I have been LOOKING for this post for SO LONG cause I wanted to watch Wish Upon a Star again! :D But I only have internet when I’m at Starbucks and I don’t really want to watch a movie here, so I’m attempting to load all 9 parts in different tabs so I can watch it when I get home. We’ll see how it goes.

Regardless where you stand on immigration issues, a border fence, amnesty, etc., or on same-sex marriage and equal rights for LGBT citizens, how can you be in favor of making it easier to commit violence against LGBT or immigrant women? I cannot believe our national debate has come to this point – where we are singling out parts of the population and making them more vulnerable to violence.

Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY) criticized the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act saying the bill passed on Wednesday puts women’s lives in jeopardy because it excludes access to services for immigrant, LGBT and Native American women.  (via nbclatino)

I mean, “singling out parts of the population and making them more vulnerable to violence” is what institutional oppression is - it’s just not always as visible as this.

But yes, this whole thing is fucking ridiculous.

It’s just a pack of gum, right?

Not this week.

It’s a promise ring. I made it out of gum wrappers. Juicy Fruit.

This is a pack of 15 tiny thematically appropriate Klaine drabbles, each written on a gum wrapper, repackaged and reassembled and ready to send to somebody out there in the world. On the right there is a fuzzy photo of the first one.

Yes, for real. Apparently gum wrappers are a thing we do now.

I don’t know - it seemed like the right kind of ridiculous? Remember that I felt a burning need to send 100 people Christmas letters from the Hudson-Hummels last year and actually recruited other people to help me make it happen and the whole thing might make a little more sense to you. I like my fan culture to occasionally take a walk on the material side, and this made me smile.

It’s the usual giveaway deal - I’ll ship it wherever it needs to go and there will be some kind of random drawing, probably Sunday night at around midnight Eastern. You don’t have to be following me, and if for some reason this really strikes your fancy, don’t reblog it more than twice, okay? There’s no need to piss off your dash, not for the sake of a handful of sentences written on something you’d usually throw away.

You want to enter this contest. Trust me. I know what’s written on most of these and it is SO. TOTALLY. WORTH. WINNING.

You’re not weak. Your life is not defined by a letter grade, a dress size, your sexuality or anything else. You have every chance at happiness. You were not meant to suffer. You are loved. Never, ever give up.

Does anyone else lie in bed at 2:30am filled with the crippling fear that they’re never going to accomplish anything in life and fail miserably or is that just me?

I usually have to repeat my name because it’s pretty unusual. It can sound strange to people who stumble over the pronunciation. Here’s the story:  My name is Amandla and was inspired by Miles Davis’ 1989 album, “Amandla,” which means “power” in Zulu. After listening to its beautiful melodies, my mother thought to herself, “If I ever have a daughter, this is what I’ll name her.” The phrase “Amandla Awethu!” was often shouted at anti-apartheid rallies in South Africa. It means “Power to the People!” Amandla is also the title of a documentary about the role of music in the anti-apartheid movement, Amandla!: A Revolution in Four-Part Harmony. I have a very cool poster that was signed by the director, Lee Hirsch. He wrote: Go Amandla!!!! Sing & Be Powerful!
       Sounds like a plan!

The fact she knows what this documentary is makes me love her even more.

I love powerful names, and children who know what their names mean!

i love this baby. she is the best.
